The new global headquarters for Leidos, a Fortune 500 IT, science and engineering company, has been designed with sustainability and employee wellness at its heart. It’s fitting then that Senza Finé surface finishes were specified to reflect this as part of the interior design.
The 275,000 square foot facility in Reston Town Center was conceived by Gensler Architects to showcase the Leidos brand, from its iconic purple to themes of transparency and collaboration. A diagonal detail is featured throughout to reinforce the idea of a kaleidoscope (where the name originates) seeking to look at problems from multiple perspectives. The resulting property has been awarded LEED Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
Specialist polished plaster finishes have been hand-applied throughout by Senza Finé, a color-matched purple Spatulata finish at lift lobbies and meeting rooms, with white ArmourGlass to the ceilings. In total nearly 3,000 square feet of finishes were completed over all 17 floors of the headquarters.
Spatulata is a highly luxurious finish with remarkable depth and sheen. Applied in numerous fine layers the resulting highly polished decorative surface adds a touch of luxury to interior spaces. ArmourGlass has the appearance of a seamless high gloss ‘lacquer’, with less surface movement. It provides an opulent decorative effect, equally suited for walls and ceilings, offering great light reflection to create an inviting and spacious interior.
