Senza Finé have created statement wall finishes as part of the modernization of the John Eaton Elementary School, a $57.7 million project in the Cleveland Park Historic neighborhood of Washington, DC.
The project included renovation of two existing buildings, and the demolition of more recent 20th century buildings to allow for the construction of a new 92,000 square feet four-level building featuring a gymnasium, library and cafeteria. Within the new school building polished plaster finishes and graphics, specified by Chris Ambridge, Principal at cox graae + spack architects, were hand-applied by Senza Finé as a key element of the ‘many cultures, one community’ theme reflecting the international-focus of the school.
To create the mascot and continent stencils, over 3,500 square feet of Armourcoat Spatulata and Pitted polished plaster finishes were hand-applied by Manassas-based Senza Finé. The continents themselves were created from over 31,000 ½” dot stencils. The Pitted finish with its rugged, natural appearance of lightly polished limestone is the perfect background for the highly luxurious Spatulata finish with its remarkable depth and sheen.
